Keeping your deck consistent: banners, borders, and style across cards

Why individual cards can vary a little, and how to fix something across many cards at once.

Why cards can vary

Every card in your deck is generated individually — each one is its own hand-crafted scene built around your photo and that card's meaning. The deck's overall look (banner style, borders, color palette) is designed to stay consistent, but because each card is created separately, small variations in lighting, brushwork, or framing are normal — much like cards in a hand-painted deck.

Meaningful inconsistencies, though, are worth fixing — and you have good tools for that.

Fixing one card

If a single card stands out (wrong colors, a different mood, an odd border), open it and use Edit — describe specifically what should match the rest of the deck, e.g. "make the background palette warm gold like the other cards".

Fixing many cards at once

  • Bulk edit in the editor: use the bulk option in the bottom bar of your order page, select the affected cards, and submit one instruction for all of them. Each card in the batch uses one edit.

  • Bulk edit in the chat: ask the Order Assistant (the (?) button) — e.g. "remove the collar on all cards where it appears". It stages up to 5 cards per request and shows you previews to approve before anything changes.

Deck-wide appearance rules

If the same unwanted detail keeps coming back (for example a harness or leash from your photo appearing on cards), tell the Order Assistant to make it a deck-wide rule — e.g. "never show the harness on any card". The rule is saved on your order and applied to every future edit and regeneration, so you don't have to repeat yourself card by card.

Realistic expectations

  • Perfect pixel-level uniformity isn't how these decks work — each card is an individual artwork, and gentle variation is part of their charm.

  • Edits are most effective when they name one concrete thing to change; "make everything consistent" is too vague for good results.

  • Want a professional to align the whole deck for you? The Artisan Edit Service puts a real artisan on your order to carry out all of your changes — find it via the diamond icon on your order page.
