How to use the card editor and troubleshoot AI issues

A full walkthrough of editing your cards — in the chat or the manual editor — plus version history and troubleshooting tips.

Two ways to edit your cards

You can edit any card on your order page in two ways:

  • The Order Assistant chat — tap the (?) icon in the bottom-right corner of your order page and describe the change in your own words. Great when you want help figuring out what to ask for, or want to change several cards in one conversation.

  • The manual card editor — click any card and select "Edit" to work on that card directly.

Both paths share the same edit allowance. Each plan includes free edits (see How many edits do I have?), and only Collector's Edition and Collector's Club members have unlimited edits — on other plans you can purchase more anytime.

Editing in the chat: request → preview → apply

Chat edits are staged safely, so nothing changes on your deck until you approve it:

  • 1. Describe the change. Tell the assistant what you'd like (e.g. "make the background on The Moon a starry night sky"). It stages the change under "Proposed changes".

  • 2. Tap "Create preview". Nothing is generated (and no edit is used) until you tap this button — each preview uses one edit per card. The preview usually takes 2–5 minutes and appears right in the chat.

  • 3. Review and apply. If you love it, tap "Apply" — applying is free and makes the preview your live card. If not, dismiss it or ask for a refinement.

You can stage edits for up to 5 cards in one chat request; larger jobs just take a couple of messages.

Don't see the "Create preview" button? Scroll to the assistant's most recent message — the proposed changes and their buttons appear there. If you've used all your edits you'll see a "Get more edits" option instead, and if a preview sat unused for a while you may see "Refresh preview" — tap it to bring the preview up to date before applying.

Editing a card manually

Click any card and select "Edit". The editor offers:

  • Quick Edits — one-tap fixes for the most common issues (wrong colors, extra limbs, background changes, and more).

  • Custom Prompt — describe one specific change in your own words.

  • Regenerate — create a brand-new version of the card from your photo, telling us what was wrong so we do better.

To change several cards at once, use the bulk option ("Recreate Cards") in the bottom bar: select the cards, then submit one instruction for all of them. Bulk edits use one edit per card.

Version history — nothing is ever lost

Every edit keeps your card's full history. Open a card and choose Version History to browse every previous version, including the original. Tap "Use this version" to restore any of them — restoring is always free and doesn't use an edit.

Best practices for great results

  • Be specific: describe exactly what needs to change (e.g. "change the dog's coat color to golden brown").

  • One change at a time: each edit is handled on its own, with no memory of earlier attempts — a single clear request beats a list of changes.

  • Name the subject: say "the black cat" or "the woman with white hair" instead of "her" or "them".

Troubleshooting

  • Distorted features or artifacts: use the editor's Quick Edits to describe the correction — glitches, extra limbs, and odd proportions are exactly what those fixes are for.

  • "Busy server" messages or page freezes: refresh your browser or clear your cache, then try again. If it persists, ask the Order Assistant via the (?) icon.

  • Prefer a person to handle it? Add the Artisan Edit Service — a real artisan makes every change for you. You'll find it in the edit window or via the diamond icon on your order page.
